Meaning Of Qirat
Qiraat meaning (pl. of Qirah) in Islam refers to the various methods of reciting the Holy Quran. Each Qirah has its own certain rules of recitation and variations in words and letters. Qirat also refers to the branch of Islamic studies that deals with these recitation manners. Thus, Qirat are the verbalization of the Quran, and the Quran is preserved in Qirat.
What Is Qiraat?
The 10 Qiraat are 10 different methods of reciting the Quran. Each one of these 10 Qiraat derives its name from the famous Rawi “Qari”, the one who narrates it with an established and authenticated chain “Sanad”. Each Qirah has its own Recitation Method and Tajweed Rules that change the pronunciation of the letters and words, meanings, prolongation, and some Tajweed Rules.
Reasons For 10 Qiraat Course
The reason for the 10 Quran Qira’at Course is the different dialects spoken by the Arab Muslims in many Muslim countries. There are 10 Methods of Recitations of the Noble Quran (10 Qira’at) which were continuously transmitted by the Messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Companions (Sahabah), and Successors (Tabi’on) and Quran Qira’at Scholars to us. It has been handed down by the Companions (Sahabah) and after them by the Successors (Tabiu’n) until the present day.
